Week 14 (October 22-28)

Jake left for his final work week this year! He left Thursday to teach a school in Puerto Rico. While he was gone Caroline and I did some fun things...

Friday night we went to Maclay's first football homecoming. Grandma Brenda, Travis, Allie, Deb Deb and Cody were there. Maclay lost, but we had a good time seeing everyone.

Saturday Do, Cody, Debbie and I got up early and headed to Jacksonville for the Florida/Georgia game. Caroline stayed home with Grandma Brenda. It seems like they had a good time together and Brenda cleaned up our house so she is welcome back anytime. Brenda said " I should pay you guys for keeping her. She was so much fun!"

Sunday we went out to dinner for Cody's 16th b-day. He got a Jeep Grand Cherokee and it is really nice. I can't believe he is 16. It makes me feel so old!

Week 13 (October 15-21)

Welcome to the world...

My friend Summer had a baby girl this week. I am so excited for her and her husband Chris. I can't wait to meet Chloe! Congrats!

Sunday was the Breast Cancer Walk at Southwood. Jake, Caroline and I raised $290! We had a good time walking and it was not too hot to spoil the fun. We met Grandma and Grandpa out there and they walked with us. Thanks to everyone who donated. We could not have done it without you!

Friday night we had dinner at the Wellman's. Jake got to meet Megan and I got to hold her this time. She is so little compared to Caroline. I cant believe how easy it is to forget how small they used to be. Claire was very eager to show us her big girl room. It is so nice...especially her clock and her paintings on the wall! Claire also took me on a tour of the whole house even though we have been there many times before. I saw Megan's room, Susan and Andrew's room, and I even got to see the bathrooms! I feel honored.

Megan( 4 weeks), Claire( 2 1/2 years) and Caroline.

Here are some pictures of the girls hanging on on Friday.

Saturday we walked down the street to the Methodist Church. They were having a fall festival with games, crafts and a pumpkin patch. We picked out a few pumpkins and took them home with us. Here are some pictures.

Pictures of Baby Caroline (1 month)

Hi!
So many people have missed this link in a previous blog that I thought I would add it again.
This link is to pictures that a wonderful photographer, also my friend, took for us when Caroline was 1 month old. We plan on doing this ever couple of months so please check back at the end of October to see the new ones!

Week 12 (October 8-14)

Jake and Caroline went to St. George Island on Monday to visit with Aunt Kate and Uncle Ed. Here is Jake's blog entry...

"Daddy gets to blog this time!

After we got back from Baton Rouge Caroline and I got up early Monday morning and headed to the beach. Unfortunately Kelley had to work so it was just the two of us Aunt Kate and Uncle Ed were renting a beach house on St George Island. We got there around 10:00 and visited with Kate and Ed for while since they had not seen her for a long time they were amazed how much she had grown and changed.

After a while changed Caroline into her bathing suit and headed to the beach. We spent some time playing in the sand and then mean old Uncle Ed buried her in the sand. She seemed to enjoy it and in fact she almost fell asleep while she was buried. We dug her out and put her in her carrier and let her catch a nap.

Once she woke up we went down to the water for the first time. We all took turns playing with her in the water and although she did not appear to love it she did not hate it either. Aunt Kate made a promise that anytime Caroline wants to go to the beach she will take her. We will hold her to that!!

After playing in the water it was time to go inside for a while. We got Caroline up to the house and she was covered, head to toe, in sand. We tried just wiping it off but in the end we just had to take the hose and just hose her down. We got her dried off and then fed her while Kate made lunch. While the adults were eating lunch Caroline took another nap.

Around 5 we went back down to the beach but just to sit around. We did not want to get to sandy this time. We stayed there for about an hour and a half and then it was time to start packing up and heading back to Tallahassee. We left around 7:15 and when we got to town it was time to go to Mommy’s volleyball game. We did not get home until after 10 and after she got a bath to remove the sand that the hose missed and Kelley feed her she went to sleep.

It was a long but it was a lot of fun! The only thing that would have made it better was if Mommy could have joined us. Thanks Kate and Ed for sharing you beach house for the day."

Nana's b-day was October 8th. Cody, Debbie, Do, Travis, Allie, Jake Caroline and I went out to dinner to celebrate at Bonefish. We had some yummy fish and Jake had steak as his last meal before he got his wisdom teeth out the next day. Allie and Cody also have October birthday's so we sang to them as well.

We had some first time visitors this week as well. Brooke (Wood) Adkins and her mother Susan Weaver came over to visit us. They brought Caroline a really cute pumpkin outfit. We can't wait till they can come back and visit again.

Week 11 (October 1-7)

This weekend we went to Louisiana for the LSU/Florida football game. Do, Cody, Debbie, Jake, Caroline and I got in the motorhome on Friday morning and headed to Baton Rouge. It was Caroline's first motorhome trip and she did really well.

When we got to Baton Rouge, Paulan came and picked Jake, Caroline and I up because we stayed at her house for the 2 nights we were in town. Paulan took us to her parents house and Caroline got to meet Mr. Jim, Mrs. Marsha and Paulan's brother Brian. We went to Paulan's new house after that and unpacked a bit. We got the grand tour of the beautiful house! It has 4 bedrooms and 3 baths. It is huge compared to our little house.

That same night we went to Robin's new house and got to visit with her. Her house is a 3 bedroom 2 bath with a study. I love her kitchen! We also got to see Allison and Mrs. Denise (Robin's mother) because they were over visiting as well. Happy b-day Al!

Saturday we woke up early so we could go meet some people for breakfast. We went to La Madeline's, which is one of my favorite places to eat! We met up with Emily Grimsley, Colleen, Gabe, Olivia Puccio, and Heather, Mike and Isabella Amico. We had a good time catching up and we finally got to meet Olivia and Isabella.

Paulan, Bobby, Jake, Caroline and I went out to tailgate for the game after breakfast. First we went to the motorhome to see Do, Debbie and Cody and then we went over to see Allison, Cassie, and Angie.

Jake took Caroline home in the early afternoon because it was getting really hot. Paulan, Bobby and I went to tailgate with their friends from the neighborhood. They had 2 tents, a huge trailer packed with tons of food and beer. It was really hot, but we had a good time.

The game did not turn out the way we wanted it too, but at least it was a good game.

Week 10 (September 24-30)

The week started of well because Jake came home from Peru. He got home just in time to go to Caroline's 2 month check up at the doctors office. Caroline got her first round of shots (1 oral medicine and 3 shots) this visit. Caroline cried when the shots were administered, but calmed down quickly after that. She was a little irritated the rest of the day, but she was an angel as usual. Here is a picture of her "boo boos."

Congrats Susan and Andrew!
Monday September 24th Megan Grace Wellman was born. Andrew called us in the afternoon to say that she had arrived by c-section and that Megan and Susan were doing great. Caroline and I went up to the hospital Wednesday to visit and got to meet Megan. She is so sweet! I am looking forward to Megan and Caroline becoming great friends. I spoke with Claire, Susan and Andrew's 2 1/2 year old, on the phone and the said that "She loves baby Megan."

SAN FRANCISCO HERE WE COME!!!

Thursday Caroline and I woke up at 4:00am to get ready to catch our flight to California. We went out to San Francisco to go to Chris' wedding.

Our flight left Tallahassee at 7:30am and Caroline did great on the way to Atlanta. We had one little accident...she had explosive poop while we were landing and it leaked out her diaper and onto her and me! We finally got to Atlanta and I changed her on the plane because I could not stand having poop on me any longer. We had a short layover in Atlanta and got right on the plane to San Francisco. This was a much longer flight than before, but she did really well. I had an isle seat so I was able to get up and down as much as I wanted without bothering anyone. One bad thing about flying with a child is that some/most airplanes do not have a place to change a baby. I had to lay her on a blanket on the floor to do it, but we survived. Everyone around us kept saying how good Caroline was on the plane. Jake met us at the airport and that was really nice because he could help me with the bags, the stroller and the car seat.
Thursday night was the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner. The place where they had the wedding was really pretty. It was up in the mountains of Lafayette, CA (locals probably call them hills, but they are higher than the hills in Tallahassee so they are mountains to me). Caroline got to meet Roger and Gail, Brad, and Chris and Michelle. The dinner was at a steakhouse and the food was delicious!

Friday Jake, Caroline and I got up early and went into the city to look around. We went to Pier 39 and saw the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz from afar. We saw the sea lions and rode on the merry go round. Pier 39 also has a ton of shops and restaurants so we shopped and ate lunch there too.

Watch our video of the Sea Lions!!!

After lunch we walked down to fisherman's wharf and then to the start/end of a trolley car track. We watched trolleys come in, be turned around and then sent back on their way. We even got to ride a couple of blocks to Lombard street on one.

Chris and Michelle live on Lombard street so we walked down the curvy part and them met up with Chris at his house. Jake and the boys went to the Oakland A's baseball game for Chris' bachelor party while Caroline and I met my cousin Elizabeth for dinner in her neighborhood, Haight Ashbury.

Saturday Jake had his hands full with best man duties so Caroline and I had a lazy morning and then met Gail for lunch by our hotel. The wedding was at 4:00pm and everything turned out beautiful. Here are some pictures from the night...

The flight home was awful. We were supposed to leave at 2:10 PST and there were 2 different things wrong with our plane so that delayed us leaving until 7:00. we got to Atlanta around 2:00am and then had to wait in line for our hotel voucher. We finally got to sleep around 3:30 and then had to get up and head to the airport at 6:30am for a 8:30am flight home.

It was a long weekend, but we had a ton of fun and can't wait to go back!

Week 9 (September 17-23)

This Week Jake went to Peru for a Davis Cup event. He will be gone for a week and then home for the rest of the year (except 4 days at the end of October)!

Tuesday Caroline and I went to Aunt Sharon and Uncle Mike's house for dinner. We had great food and great company. We can't wait to go back!

Saturday we picked up Brenda and had a shopping marathon. We went to Target, then to get my hair cut, then to the mall, next to shoe station and then finally ended up at the other Target. Caroline was a good girl all day. That must mean that she likes to shop!
